Complete the lyric: “Everybody’s trying to be my…”

“comedian.” (But I love it!)

Ed Sullivan was famously known as a “talker.” What were his last words to the Beatles after their last performance on his program?

“Person, woman, man, camera, TV”

After successfully replacing Pete Best with Ringo, the boys briefly toyed with the idea of adding a fifth, female Beatle on vocals, saxophone & percussion for additional multigendered appeal, but ultimately decided against it. Why didn’t they go through with it?

All of them!

Because John hadn’t met Yoko yet… he was waiting for The One.

Which Beatle had a cameo in the Monty Python sketch “The Cheese Shop”, and what part did he play?

Ringo Starr played the part of the undertaker who collects Michael Palin’s body at the end of the sketch.  He was reprising his role as the undertaker in the symbolic and iconic march across Abbey Road on the Abbey Road album cover (John = priest, Ringo = undertaker, Paul = dead, George = gravedigger).  However, it was cut, as the Pythons usually never formally ended any of their sketches, but simply rolled into the next one.

During the White Album recording sessions, why was Ringo’s drum kit covered in flowers one day?

It was one of Yoko’s art exhibits titled Music Grows.

What songs do the Hendersons sing as Mr Kite flies through the ring?

They were singing the complete bawdy version of Maggie Mae , which nearly resulted in the closure of Pablo Fanques Fair.  This song often created a lot of confusion, because, of course, Henry the Horse could only dance a waltz and his timing was really off.

What did John claim he would have been if he hadn’t become successful in music?

John said he would’ve been an idiot; probably the one in the Village.

What was Paul implying when he said John hadn’t been successful in music?

That John had been super succesful in music indeed.

Why did George refuse to feature in a Digestive’s comercial?

Because the marketing agency wanted both George and Yoko in the commercial.

How many songs did Ringo write as a member of the Beatles?

Trick question: All of his Beatles songs were actually written by Ringo as an ex-member of Rory Storm & The Hurricanes.

How did the Beatles’ promotional plan to include a free real apple with each Apple record release go disastrously wrong?

GEORGE: In fact, The Detroit Sound. JOHN: In fact, yes. GEORGE: In fact, yeah. Tamla-Motown artists are our favorites. The Miracles. JOHN: We like Marvin Gaye. GEORGE: The Impressions PAUL & GEORGE: Mary Wells. GEORGE: The Exciters. RINGO: Chuck Jackson. JOHN: To name but eighty.

One bad apple spoiled the barrel.

Who was Isaac Vapnick and what part did he play in the story of the Beatles?

Isaac Vapnick was the apple-seller with the Apple apple contract…

Why did John and Yoko have “50 acorns tied in a sack”?

In fact they had 50 Digestives tied in a sack but the word “acorns” simply fit better.

Why did “I want to hold your ham” fail to enter the charts in America?

The Great American Ham Shortage of 1963-64 made it so that very few American hams could be held.

What grew in the Octopus’s Garden ?

In most seasons, naturally harvested aquatic deep-sea hams flourished in octopus’ gardens off the American coast…until the historic Underwater Ham Famine of 1962-3 rendered those years’ crops almost entirely unusable.

Inspired by their own successful acorn campaign/art statement, johnandyoko briefly launched an off-offshoot of Zapple called Acorn Records. What sort of sounds was this label intended to document?

Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

johnandyoko wanted to document whether or not, if a tree fell in a forest, and no one heard it, if it made a sound.

Provide a Beatles song lyric that has since become a common proverb or saying in the English language.

“In the end the gold you take is equal to the gold you make” from their world wide flop Rock Your Jewelry.

What was the original lyrics to “Happiness is a warm ham” and why they changed them?

The original lyrics were “Happiness is warm gum” but they found it difficult to chew and sing at the same time.

Which Beatle is the biggest ham?
