After receiving increased criticism for John’s occasional “crip” acts, the remorseful Beatles became more respectful of the disabled community, and “Bald Headed Sally!” was an affectionate shout-out to the unfortunate teenage victims of alopecia amongst the adoring crowd; and when Paul sang that verse, the afflicted girls in the audience would momentarily remove their Beatle wigs and shake them vigorously, proudly displaying their scalp.
