My name is Mike. I live in the Detroit metro area. I'm in my mid 50's so I consider myself a second generation Beatle fan. I've been listening to them all my life but I didn't get any album of their's until I was thirteen. Like many in my age group those were the Red and Blue albums.
I was married for twenty plus years and have three children between the ages of 39 and 25. I now live with a woman who's favorite Beatle song is Here Comes The Sun . This is what I look like when I'm not hiding behind pictures of Richard Starkey

Q: I must tell you, by the way, that Detroit University have got a ‘Stamp Out The Beatles’ movement.
George: I know, yeah.
John: Yeah, we heard something about that.
Paul: We’ve got a ‘Stamp Out Detroit!’
Glad you're not one of the people who wants to stamp out the Beatles.

It was actually the University of Detroit (now known as Detroit Mercy) back then and if there was a movement to stamp out the Beatles it was probably the clergy.

Hi all. First post after a while browsing. Came across the site on a hunt for rumours relating to the LIB 50th anniversary.
Am from Wirral, Merseyside. My dad went to the same school as Paul and George, albeit a decade or so behind them.
Probably go for Revolver as my favourite album but who knows for sure. Currently on a big spell of blasting Help .
Loads of fascinating topics from over the years here so I'll be reading through. Apologies if there's any digs that I have an urge to respond to.

Welcome, @GIMH! I've only been here for a few months myself, and I hope you come to love it here as much as I have.
Help ! is truly a great album–some of my favorite Beatles songs are on it (and some of my least favorite, but oh well).
No need to apologize for responding to things! I always get excited to see new members joining almost every day. I look forward to hearing your thoughts on what I'm sure we can all agree are the truly important concerns of life

Hey folks. I was lurking here for a while and decided to jump in and discuss. I'm a bit of a newbie as far as being a fan of the Beatles goes. I was only introduced to them last year in my history of rock class.
My teacher hated the Beatles but when they showed us the Help ! music video, I was immediately hooked and listened to all of the albums. Long story short, they're now my favorite band.
My favorite album is hard to say at the moment. It's changed several times already only in the several months I've listened to the Beatles. These albums are set in stone as my top 5, not in this order -- A Hard Day's Night , Rubber Soul , The White Album , Let It Be , and Abbey Road .

Hey @Moon Dog ! Glad to have you on board.
Your teacher obviously didn't know the first thing about music... ignore them!

Welcome, @Moon Dog ! It's nice to hear stories of people becoming fans of the Beatles as adolescents and adults. I grew up listening to them, and oftentimes it's difficult to explain to non-fans what's so wonderful about them. Glad to have you here!

Welcome to the forum, @Moon Dog . Did you teacher tell you why they hated The Beatles? How old is the teacher? I'm glad you're a free thinker and didn't just take the teacher's word for it. You obviously have better taste in music than your professor!
