Editing, recording: Live And Let Die by Wings

Studio One, AIR Studios, London
Producer: George Martin
Engineer: Bill Price

Wings continued work on ‘Live And Let Die’ on 20 October 1972.

The song had been recorded in three takes on the previous day. During playback on this day, Paul McCartney decided to edit parts of each take to create a final version.

There’s one section where the orchestra stops and it goes into a reggae section, and that was actually done live; it wasn’t edited in. We took it from a live take of Wings with the orchestra. And a lot of McCartney’s vocal was live, some of it live with Wings, some of it live with the orchestra, a little bit of it overdubbed. But I do remember that I wasn’t able to edit too much because there were so many tracks and so many different takes.

Overdubs were recorded on this and the following day. They included additional lead vocals, electric piano, and backing vocals by the whole band.
