John Lennon and Yoko Ono appeared on the PBS show Free Time on 14 October 1971.
The show was filmed in the WNET studios in New York City, and involved Ono staging versions of her art and instructional works ‘Hide Piece’, ‘Sweep Piece’, and ‘Promise Piece’.
Snippets from Film No. 4 (‘Bottoms’), Film No. 12 (‘Up Your Legs Forever’), and Film No. 13 (‘Fly’) were also shown, and members of the audience were invited to participate in various installation works. At one stage a member of the public fell from a stepladder and broke his arm.
