Studio Three, EMI Studios, Abbey Road
Producers: George Harrison, Phil Spector
Engineers: Phil McDonald, John Leckie

Friday 3 July 1970 was the 21st recording session for George Harrison’s third solo album All Things Must Pass.

Just one song was worked on: ‘What Is Life’, which had been worked on during earlier sessions on 22 and 23 June.

Fifteen takes were recorded on this day, numbered 28-42. Several jams were also played in between takes, including ‘Jam (4)’, which was also known as ‘Almost 12 Bar Honky Tonk’ in Harrison’s production notes.

Take 42 of ‘What Is Life’ was marked best, and appeared on the album. This was the final All Things Must Pass session featuring a full band.

There was a break in between sessions between now and 25 July. Harrison left London to see his mother Louise, who was suffering from ill health and died on 7 July. The album sessions resumed on the 25th.
