Tuesday 23 June 1970 was the 15th recording session for George Harrison’s third solo album All Things Must Pass.
Three songs were worked on during this session: ‘What Is Life’, ‘Beware Of Darkness’, and ‘Hear Me Lord’.
Eleven takes of ‘What Is Life’ had been recorded on the previous day. This session began with take 12, before a tape reel was filled with various rehearsals and informal attempts. A final attempt, take 27, was made before the decision was made to move on.
‘Beware Of Darkness’ had also been worked on the day before, with five takes laid down. Nine more, numbered 6-14, were taped on this day, with take six marked as best.
The only new song introduced during this session was ‘Hear Me Lord’. Three takes were recorded, the first of which was incomplete. The song was re-recorded the following day.
