For me, only a confession of guilt can lead to the death penalty. If proven guilty, life sentence. If pleads guilty, Death.

I don't belive in the death penalty, and I don't believe that a life sentence is good either. I think that killing is wrong, and it doesn't matter what the reason is, it's wrong! What I don't get is the punishment they give murderers and people who do things just as bad is they kill them, well I don't think that's a good way to go about it because it only lets the bad person escape from what they did, and for many, that's what they want. and giving someone a life sentence is killing that person mentally.

Killing people for doing something bad is not a way to confront a problem, it's only a way to avoid it!!!!paul-mccartney

Then you're giving a harsher sentence to someone who admits that they are guilty than someone who is proven guilty! That isn't how justice works. Also, insane people have been known to confess to crimes they haven't committed.

Obviously you Brits don't realize how corrupt the CIA is. They hated Kennedy because he wasn't okay with the status quo. He was a changer.

Yet Lennon survived two years of being a game changer, King survived longer, and neither assassin had any relations with the CIA. If it was really so likely, everybody would have realised that at the time and the desire for change would have seen the CIA completely overthrown. It just isn't the done thing to assassinate nuisances, as they'll just be held up as martyrs.

There's so little evidence of a conspiracy that holds up. Insane man kills President. Insane man kills President's assassin. These were not people who you'd have in the loop of a plot to kill the President.

MI6 is little better than the CIA, yet nobody seriously believes Princess Diana was assassinated because she was pregnant and Prince Phillip was listening to her phone calls. It's just so implausible.

I told her I didn’t

Ruby wasn't insane. And your first line is wrong. Ray, MLK's killer, is believed to be part of a conspiracy. One that is believed by King's family.

To say that the CIA has no connections to 9/11 is completely wrong, just google the name AB Buzzy Krongard and do some digging, that is if you really care.

If not, keep assuming away.

But we're getting too far off topic here, no one really knows who Mark was or was not connected to because most of his life is shrouded in mystery. I can tell you that he was not insane and had no real motivation for killing John, but outside of that everything is pure speculation. How do I know he's not insane? The judge at his trial said so, which is good enough for me.

Insane people can have things told to them which could explain why he admitted to it the way he did. He was a mentally unstable person. No doubt in my mind.

Into the Sky with Diamonds said (see post 1)

Today being December 8th is a coincidence. In going through some memorabilia, I came across this letter sent to me years ago by a friend. He’d received this letter sent from jail. Chapman’s obviously found religion. The Christian Testimony he refers to at the bottom is a pamphlet in which he describes his emotional journey. I’ll post it when I have a moment to scan it. What a sad day. I’m looking at the Dakota. It’s cold and gray out – just like in our hearts.

I imagine part of you wants to burn that letter. I’m glad it fell into sensible hands.

I brought posts 2-71 over to bring the conversation about Chapman together. There may be more that we can bring in. Also, I added his first and middle name to the title.

My opinion is… for whatever human there is, not only John…

this: you take a life? They put you in a room. You have a place to sit and a place to take a dump in. Nothing. Else. You get food and water. You are never, ever, permitted to leave the room. Total isolation from people. Nothing to kill yourself with. If you try to starve yourself, they eventually put you to sleep and feed you so you don’t die. Life like that is worse than anything.

I apologise if I seem to act like a psycho, but I needed to get this out of my system. Thinking out loud.

Before anyone else joins in lets not start discussing what punishments should be handed out for murder and whether or not they are right or wrong.

Personally i do nothing on the 8th December. I mark John’s birth and try not to focus on his murder. However since i am posting here – love ya Johnny.

My Goodness @The Walrus, everybody assumes she was killed because of that, and because she was in a relationship with an Arab…!

Honestly, I struggle with the decision of keeping Mark in jail, or death penalty. Either he has to live with what he has done for life, or lose his own life. I’m very anti-war and violence myself, so I lean more towards him staying in jail. Plus, if he was released, he could end up shooting another person that we may dearly care about.

Also, I looked him up recently, and found out the reason he shot John. I believe it said something about Mark saying he disagreed with John’s comment that The Beatles were bigger than Jesus.

So, I’d rather keep him in jail

Who Killed John Lennon ? by Fenton Bresler is a good book, if you are interested in a more plausible theory of why John was shot.

I’ve never bought the conspiracy theories. John was shot by a man with mental health problems. No mind control. No CIA or other shadowy Government agencies. Just one man with a gun.

Why does everything have to be a conspiracy? I thought Bresler’s book was garbage.

And why is it so far-fetched when MLK and others were assassinated by the government?
