I read that the news report that he had “Beatles tapes” on him at the Dakota was not true. I read a list of his belongings once at the time of the murder. I think it’s in “Who Killed John Lennon ?” by Fenton Bresler. Ron Nasty discounts this book, but I recommend it–just read it with an open mind. There is good information in there. I think people just assumed he was a Beatles fan, because it made it easier to come up with a story that people would buy. He was more into Todd Rundgren than The Beatles.
Here’s an article on the book:

I didn’t want to start a new thread for this so I thought it might fit here. I just wondered if anyone on here had seen the 2007 film “The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford”? I watched it this week and as well as being a really great film I noticed some parallels between Robert Ford and Chapman. In the film Robert Ford is obsessed with Jesse James as during the end of Jesse James life he had achieved legendary status. Robert Ford ingratiates himself to Jesse James and actually wants to be him. I don’t know if that part of the film is historically accurate but you can’t miss the parallels of a man who would go on to assassinate his idol.

I know this sounds wrong, but as sad as the death of John Lennon was, I kind of feel bad for the guy. I mean he got a sentence of 20 years and although he’s supposedly doing well, he’s been rejected parole 8 times (must be a world record) and when he finally gets out (if he does), he’ll probably get shot himself, just like how Jack Kirby shot Lee Harvey Oswald (who shot John F Kennedy).

I think you mean Jack Ruby . Jack Kirby worked for Marvel comics.

I honestly don’t believe that somebody would shoot Mark if he were to be let out of prison. That person would have to be really stupid to potentially ruin their life to kill a person who paid for his crime. John’s death has nothing to do with the person who would do that (because I’m 96 percent sure nobody close to John would do that), so why even bother? The only people who were truly effected by what Mark David Chapman did is John’s family and friends. Other people would have absolutely no justification in killing Chapman as he did nothing to them. People who say about John’s death to “think about all the great music we missed out on” are selfish. Who cares about the music? He was a husband and a dad and a friend and all they want to think about is the music they might have missed out on? Killing Mark David Chapman for killing John would also not be congruent with what John preached.
I guess there are a lot of stupid people in this world, though, so maybe it’s not that crazy of a theory, but I still don’t think it would happen.

A lot of insane people really like John Lennon . MDC probably won’t get killed, but I would have trouble sleeping if were him and got out.

I wouldn’t put it above humans to shoot MDC. There are a lot of crazy and stupid people out there. There are also a lot of people that love John Lennon .

Okay but I would bet that the people who actually loved John Lennon would not kill Chapman. Killing Chapman would not be out of true love for John as that is incongruent with John’s beliefs.

Still someone who likes John Lennon would probs shoot him. I know it’s not right, but not all people are good and do the right thing. I know it’s sad but that’s life.

I think it is highly likely someone would do something to MDC and for the same reasons MDC shot John. The attention and fame. The difference is this time they’ll be seen as the good guy by some fans (not by me).

It should be up to him if he wanted to stay in safety forever and judging from his requests for parole, he doesn’t.

Wait a minute, there are people who don’t request for parole for safety reasons.
