Publishers announced for The Lennon Letters

The publishers have been announced for an anthology of letters by John Lennon.

The Lennon Letters will go onsale in October 2012. It will be published in America by Little, Brown and Company, and in the UK by Weidenfeld & Nicolson Ltd.

The collection is being issued with the approval of Lennon’s widow Yoko Ono, and will be edited by collector and Beatles biographer Hunter Davies. It is to contain hand-written and typed letters and postcards, as well as cartoons and doodles, and will be presented in chronological order along with an introduction by Davies.

“Pen and ink were his medium,” Little, Brown says. “John wrote letters and postcards all of his life; to his friends, family, strangers, newspapers, organisations, lawyers and the laundry – most of which were funny, informative, campaigning, wise, mad, poetic, anguished and sometimes heartbreaking.” According to the publisher, the book will present “a narrative [that] builds up, reflecting John’s life.”
