John Lennon made an appearance on ABC-TV’s Monday Night Football on 9 December 1974.
He was interviewed live by host Howard Cosell in the broadcast booth at the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum. They discussed the differences between various sports, and Cossell asked whether The Beatles would reunite. Lennon replied: “You never know. You never know. I mean, it’s always in the wind. If it looked like this, it might be worth doing, right?”
Lennon also met future US president Ronald Reagan and comedian Jonathan Winters at the game.
During an episode of Monday Night Football on the night of 8 December 1980, Cosell famously broke the news of Lennon’s assassination.
