George Harrison and Pattie Boyd flew to Nassau in the Bahamas on this day, to enjoy a holiday in the sun ahead of rehearsals for Another Beatles Christmas Show at the Hammersmith Odeon, London.
The holiday lasted until 19 December 1964. In February 1965 The Beatles flew to the Bahamas to begin work on their second movie Help!, after the group decided they wanted to film in a hot location.
The decision to film parts of Help! in the Bahamas came after a tax haven was set up there by their tax advisor Dr Walter Strach. As a gesture of goodwill to Strach, who had to live there for a year as part of the setup, The Beatles agreed to film on what was then a British colony.
