John Lennon and Yoko Ono finished filming material for their feature film Imagine on 12 September 1971.
They were filmed eating lunch and dancing in Battery Park in Manhattan. Shooting then switched to the Staten Island Ferry, as it passed the Statue of Liberty.
The day’s final scenes were shot at South Beach on Staten Island, where Lennon and Ono were filmed by the shore and on a concrete pier.
