James McCartney is born

James Louis McCartney, the son of Paul and Linda McCartney, was born on 12 September 1977.

He was born by caesarian section at the Avenue Clinic in north London, where Mary McCartney had been born in August 1969.

I’m over the moon. When I knew the baby was a boy I really flipped. I was waiting outside the door when he was born. The baby weighs 6lb 1oz, has fair hair and looks like Linda. Linda is still a bit tired, but otherwise she’s smashing, I don’t know how she does it.

Though my first name is James too, we are really calling him after my late father. The ‘Louis,’ as in Armstrong, is after Linda’s late grandfather. We have called all our children after people we loved who have died. We don’t go in for crazy names.
