The Beatles live: Odeon Cinema, Llandudno

The second of six consecutive dates in the north Wales seaside resort Llandudno took place on 13 August 1963. The Beatles played two houses on each night. The shows began at 6.30pm and 8.50pm, and tickets were priced at 4/6d, 6/6d, and 8/6d.

Also on the bill for the week were Billy J Kramer and the Dakotas, the Lana Sisters, Sons of Piltdown Men, Tommy Wallis and Beryl, and Tommy Quickly. The compère was Billy Baxter.

After this performance The Beatles returned to Liverpool for the night. They celebrated the news that their Twist And Shout EP had been certified as a silver disc for sales of over 250,000. It was the first time an EP had been so successful.

Apart from the six-night Llandudno residency, The Beatles’ other performances in Wales were in Rhyl on 14 July 1962 and 1920 July 1963; Prestatyn on 24 November 1962; Mold on 24 January 1963; Abergavenny on 22 June 1963; and Cardiff on 27 May 1963, 7 November 1964, and 12 December 1965.

  1. Patricia aggett nee owen

My father met the beatles in the London hotel upper mostynstreet llandudno he came home and said he’d met 4 lovely lads very polite and smartly dressed

  2. My mum told me she saw the Beatles live in Llandudno just before Beatlemania. Tho I always thought she said they played Winter Gardens not the Odeon.
Many years later I saw live footage of her in the crowd of a Beatles gig.
It was shown on the 50th anniversary documentary of Love Me Do (2012).
So one of the six shows she went to must have been filmed.
I went on BBC player and got a few Screenshot of her.

Actually Lemmy from Motorhead said in an a YouTube interview that he saw the Beatles at the Odeon in Llandudno.
