John Lennon left Cape Town and flew to New York on 28 May 1980.
He had arrived in South Africa for a brief holiday on 23 May. While in Cape Town he stayed at the Mount Nelson Hotel under the name Mr J Green.
Due to the journey time, Lennon arrived back in New York on 29 May.
