Recording: Café On The Left Bank, Girls School, Girlfriend by Wings

Fair Carol, St John, US Virgin Islands
Producer: Paul McCartney
Engineers: Geoff Emerick, Mark Vigars

Wings continued recording the London Town song ‘Cafe On The Left Bank’ on 4 May 1977.

The session took place aboard the Fair Carol, a 105-foot yacht kitted out with studio equipment from the Record Plant in New York. It was initially moored in Francis Bay, St John, in the US Virgin Islands.

Following two unsuccessful days they finally recorded a master take on this day. It had Paul McCartney on bass guitar, Jimmy McCulloch and Denny Laine on electric guitars, Linda McCartney on electric piano, and Joe English on drums.

Overdubs included percussion, backing vocals, and Paul’s double-tracked lead vocals. He also added a Moog synthesizer part.

Wings then had a recorded jam session, during which they worked on the songs ‘Girls School’ and ‘Girlfriend’.
