Joe English joins Wings

Joe English was invited to join Wings on 17 March 1975.

He had been playing with the band since replacing Geoff Britton on 21 January, but had not before been considered a full band member.

On the way to the Wally Heider Recording studio on this day, Paul McCartney invited him to join the group. English readily accepted.

Everything just clicked. Here I am with Paul McCartney. But it was never like putting him up on this big golden pedestal and I’m this low-life down here, it was never like that. It was an honor to work with him.

English remained Wings’s drummer until October 1977.
