Recording, mixing: Bony Moronie by John Lennon

Record Plant, New York City
Producer: John Lennon

John Lennon recorded his lead vocals for ‘Bony Moronie’ on 6 October 1974.

It was the first recording session for the Rock ‘N’ Roll album since 11 July. In the interim Lennon had recorded and released the Walls And Bridges album.

‘Bony Moronie’ had been the first song recorded for Rock ‘N’ Roll back on 17 October 1973, almost a year before this session. It had originally a hit single for Larry Williams.

‘Bony Moronie’ was one of the very earliest songs – along with ‘Be-Bop-A-Lula’ – and I remember singing it the only time my mother saw me perform before she died. So I was hot on ‘Bony Moronie’. That is one of the reasons. Also, I liked Larry Williams, who recorded it.

With the recording complete, ‘Bony Moronie’ was mixed in stereo in this session, and added to a tape reel of final mixes.
