Wings recorded the song ‘Junior’s Farm’ in Nashville on 13 July 1974.
Earlier in the day they had rehearsed the song at the farm owned by songwriter Claude ‘Curly’ Putman Jr, where Wings stayed while in Nashville. ‘Junior’s Farm’ was written prior to their arrival in the US, but the lyrics were completed during their stay.
They just seemed to enjoy being out in the country. They rode horses. I have a pond and they went swimming in it… Paul was very likable, personable. He just seemed like one of us.

The recording session started at 6pm and ended at 4am the following morning. The song still needed some arranging, and it wasn’t until 10pm that the first takes were recorded.
The backing track had Paul McCartney on bass guitar, Denny Laine and Jimmy McCulloch on electric guitars, Linda McCartney on electric piano, and Geoff Britton on drums.
Overdubs included lead and harmony vocals, the latter by the McCartneys and Laine. Britton added more snare and hi-hat, and Linda overdubbed a Moog synth part. The final touch was a bass guitar overdub during the song’s ending.
This was actually the last track we recorded. Paul essentially showed everyone what he thought they should be playing but everyone seemed to take it a notch higher. Jimmy McCulloch really got to shine on this song. He, Linda and Denny all overdubbed harmony vocals. Denny was also playing some really nice electric rhythm guitar. The breath on the end is Paul’s of course.
