Paul McCartney began six days of overdubs for the Ram album on 6 December 1970.
He had initially wanted to record in Studio B at the CBS Studio Building on 49 East 52nd Street in New York City, but the studio had been booked by other artists. Instead, the album sessions moved to CBS’s Studio D on 30th Street, a converted church renowned for its good sound quality.
During the week McCartney worked on six songs, five of which were released on Ram: ‘Monkberry Moon Delight’, ‘Uncle Albert/Admiral Halsey’, ‘3 Legs’, ‘Long Haired Lady’, and ‘The Back Seat Of My Car’. The other song was ‘Oh Woman, Oh Why’, which became the b-side of his debut solo single ‘Another Day’.
