This was The Beatles’ 55th evening show at the Cavern Club. Overall it was their 144th appearance at the underground Mathew Street venue, including their lunchtime shows.
The group topped a bill which also featured Johnny Sandon and the Searchers, and Gerry and the Pacemakers. This was Sandon’s final appearance with the Searchers before he joined the Remo Four for a number of shows at US military bases in France.
The precise number of The Beatles’ Cavern performances is not known, although they played at least 155 lunchtime and 125 evening shows between 9 February 1961 and 3 August 1963.
