When you edit a post, does it say that it’s an edit or do you have to add that in yourself? I’ve noticed some posts say “Edit:” but when I edit posts it doesn’t say that. Just curious.

Offline Sometimes I’ll see these weird little box things in people’s posts, and I’m pretty sure it’s meant to be a picture, but when I click on it it’s just a blank screen. Just wondering how that works.

Offline It may mean that people linked to a picture, and now that picture is not at that URL anymore. That’s why I think it is best for people to use the attachment function for pictures so they know the pictures won’t disappear.

The first option is your log in name which you can not change
The second option that the black arrow is pointing to is your display name. Your display name is the name that other users see you as. You can change that whenever you want though I recommend not changing it a lot as if you change your display name too much you will confuse some of the other users
I try to change my Display Name and it won’t let me, I go to “Edit Profile” and the Display Name feature is as static as the Login Name. Has anything changed since that post? (I definitely see no “black arrow”) Or am I doing something wrong?

@Jules a while back, Joe made it so that our user names can only be changed by him if we ask nicely and say pretty please with a cherry on top, after a period when users were doing exactly what SS? recommends against, changing and swapping their names with others and generally being a cheeky nuisance. It was a while ago so I’m somewhat hazy on the details, but, as I recall, it was hilarious and annoying.

As Jimi Hendrix said: Hey @Joe . Would you please help me change my Display Name?, only once and then I’m not changing it ever again. I’d like to change it to Jules, which is the nickname most of my close friends call me. The main reason is I don’t like the nickname “Clerefor”. I put it originally because it’s an old gmail account I use when I want anonymity but since I’ve been getting to know people around here I now don’t need the anonymity anymore. And now people are calling me Clerefor and it sounds ugly honestly. I don’t want to get stucked with that name. The official display name I would like to have would be “Jules (Clerefor Sede)” to clarify for nobody to get confused by old posts calling me like that. Hope you consider it, thx.

Offline I’ve been thinking about changing my display name for a while. Maybe I’ll do the same..
I've been up on the mountain, and I've seen his wondrous grace,

Offline Aw, I think that’d be a shame, QuarryMan. I suppose our resident forum music derailer by any other name would derail as musically, but I dislike change. 
Pro tip from someone who did a display name change after quite some time here: if you’re planning on doing it, don’t talk about it, just do it. Only Joe needs to know. Everyone else is gonna react like I just did.

Offline Whilst I have time on my hands.
