How to change time zone of your account (and other display options)

Step One

Go into your profile. If you are unsure how to do that, then follow the first step of this post.

Step Two

From there, go in to the options tab. If you are unsure how to do this, follow the second step of this post.

Step Three

Once their click the Edit Display Option on the left hand side.

Step Four

Once here, you can change a multitude of things

1. The first option is selecting your timezone. Where you can change your timezone. Just click on the arrow and look for the location that is closest to you (though you don’t have to change your forum timezone since it doesn’t affect anything)

2. The second option will change the order of topics in a forum. Forums are places where you can post your topic too. So when you are looking at Yesterday and Today with this option checked, the forum that hasn’t been posted in the longest will appear first (unless a topic is stickied then it will always be first.)

3. The third option is a lot like the second one except it relates to posts in a topic. So when you look in a topic, the newest post will be first. (except when a topic has sticked posts in it then the sticked posts will be displayed newest to oldest.)

4. The forth option lets you pick how many topics with unread posts will be displayed. The maximum is 250 while the default is 50.

5. The firth option lets you control the display height of your private messages on the forum. The default is 0 which means the message displays at its full height.

6. The sixth option is a lot like the second and third ones except it relates to private messages on the forum.

7. The seventh option allows you to have all of the exchanges in a private message thread open when you enter the PM thread. When this is not enabled, only the latest PM is open (unless you have option 6 enabled then the earliest will be the one open.)

Once you change what you wanna change, then click the update displays option to save it. Once the green check mark appears, you are good to go.

I don’t know if it will help anyone else but I was having trouble excluding the site from my ad blocker as per Joe’s wonderful message (which popped up more regularly than spam emails in my mail program).

I had to exclude the domain. Now I am getting a nice green “thumb’s up” each time I am here and not just on the pages I had mistakenly individually excluded.

I have no idea, sorry. More in not knowing what you mean by “Now I am getting a nice green “thumb’s up” each time I am here and not just on the pages I had mistakenly individually excluded.!” tho.

A few people have asked how to whitelist the site and I have to plead ignorance, because I don’t use adblockers.

I only found out this week that users of Adblock Plus cannot whitelist sites at all. Site owners have to contact the makers of ABP to request an exemption (a bit cheeky IMO), which I did a couple of days ago. I’ve no idea if it was successful, but today only 2.84% of pages have been viewed with adblocking software (the normal rate is around 15%). So either Tony is responsible for a huge chunk of my traffic (paul-mccartney) or the ABP request was approved. Or maybe today is just unusual. Who knows?

That popup request was set to appear every five days. I’ve increased it to seven. I suppose you might see it more often if you browse on different devices. Sorry about that (not really sorry).

It’s possible. Maybe. 🙂

I got this one. It took me a long time to figure it out. While looking at a forum page, find the button that opens up the menu that has things like “new window”, “add bookmark”, “add shortcut to home”, “share page”, “find on page”, etc. One of the options should be “Desktop view”. Check mark that box. The page will reload. You will see a more familiar view of the forum. When you click on “Add reply”, you will see the “Attachments” button. Then click on “Add file”. I then go to my “Gallery” and find the picture I want to attach.

Do you know how to save a picture from the internet to your phone? I can help you with that bit if you need me to.

P.S. I love you… oh, yeah, and let me know if the instructions help. I can revise them if need be….Let me know over in the Impossible to Derail thread so we can keep this thread kind of clean. Once we get any kinks worked out, I’ll come back here and make revisions to this post as needed.

Thanks. I’ve deleted the posts (both were mine) as I dont see the point of it existing if no one can do it. Hopefully thats ok with @Joe, maybe i should have asked first but the idea is to keep the guide updated and current not some memento of times gone by with functions that no longer exist.

About whitelisting. I use uBlock and right clicking and choosing Options shows me some tabs. One of those is Whitelist. I just add any URL to that I need to.  I haven’t added BB either way since I don’t see ads. And I know, sites depend on you seeing those ads for revenue. But some of them can be so in your face and intrusive especially pop ups. If they’re not like that though, I don’t mind them.

I have a quick question. I see an egg from Dragon Cave in @Starr Shine? ‘s signature. I’ve been trying for fifteen minutes to do something similar (a music bar from Last.FM) and I can’t get it to work for the life of me. Help ? LOL!

Try putting the code in a post so we can take a look at it, There might be some broken tags on it. Also this forum uses HTML and not BBcode so that might be a problem.

To look at code in rich text, click the button that looks like this Code.png

It’s BB code because it’s made for forum signatures, so I can’t paste it here and have it show up. But I even tried switching it to HTML and it still looked really small.

It’s one of these by the way: http://lastlabs.pl/musicbars.php . Not a big deal but it was driving me nuts. LOL

You can change the size of the image by adding width=”#” into you your code after the image url with # being any size you want.

Edit: Here is something to convert BBCode to HTML.

Thanks for your help! I think it’s because the parameters of images in your signature can’t be more than 150 pixels wide and this, even though it’s thin, not very high, it’s 365 pixels wide so it won’t work here. Ah well. Back to a plain text sig. LOL! xx

Firs, check if a thread like that exists. If it doesn’t I would put a thread like that in the song area. I say that would be fine.
