I’m not too sure that Madonna going to Malawi to buy another couple of African children is the answer to the falling birthrates in the G7.

Anyone can do it, you could adopt a child from Malawi. Don’t heap everything on a celebrity.
Also the G7 is outdated, should change who is in it.

Maybe there should be a cull like when there are too many badgers, hedgehogs or seagulls. Or someone builds a boat then leaves their hosepipe on and hopes no one questions the rising water for a few years/decades.

And that’s how a thousand science fiction plots were born. Maybe the human population will decline but the post-apocalyptic movie population will be out of control.
I think the impulse to breed is basic to our nature and the nature of all animals and mammals, and that restricting the right to have children would be seen by most as a major breach of what many consider a basic human right.
On the other hand, overpopulation is a real and serious problem. I’m generally for less people. The world is lousy with them already…

I get annoyed when people with deadly genetic diseases have children, but other than that I don’t think anyone should be forced to have or not have children. It should be up to the individual. I do wish more people would educate themselves on what having a child actually entails, though. I see too many young people trying to have children and then wishing they had waited until they were more mentally and/or financially prepared for it.

My point is that “anyone” can’t do it, and if you believe they can then you are deluded. An ordinary 58-year-old would not be allowed to adopt in most places in the world. This 58-year-old would not be allowed to adopt a child in either of her main domains. How can you suggest that what she is doing has nothing to do with her wealt and celebrity? Do you believe it right?

Personally, I wish no one drank alcohol but banning it is next to impossible.

What do you guys think the drinking age should be. For me, I think it should be legal for all, but 18 would also work. I think having the age at 21 is stupid, as 18 is the age of majority.
I suppose that I lean more towards making it eighteen, but I don’t care that much either way.

I'm also ewe2 on weekends.

Ron Nasty, it’s kind of funny how you’re British yet the one thing I think the UK does better you think the US does better, I don’t know why you’d prefer not to be able to legally drink until 21 anyways. Starr Shine?, It’s great to see someone knowing about how stupid prohibition was and realizing it shouldn’t happen again. As for Billy Shears, although they say drugs are bad, drugs can actually save your life and alcohol and tobacco aren’t drugs but rather healthier alternatives to drugs such as marijuana, cocaine, LSD, meth, heroin, and ecstasy.

If we are to be honest with ourselves, we will admit that if you want to drink at the age of 18, you’re going to drink, whether or not the law allows it. I know 18 was the age when I started drinking (after dabbling at earlier ages). Making it illegal to buy alcohol from 18-21 accomplishes little, it’s more of an inconvenience than anything else. I had no trouble getting alcohol any time I wanted it at the age of 18. You should be able to drink and consume marijuana at the age when you are legally an adult, when you are eligible to vote or to join the military.

Well said Pablo Ramon, I did a lot of things illegally back in the day and still do such as underage drinking and smoking, street fighting, sneaking into movie theatres, shoplifting, bootlegging, using peer2peer software, etc. and the fact that those things were illegal didn’t stop me at all, even if I got arrested for it.
