What do you guys think of militaries and war. I personally think it’s wrong, mainly because I believe that killing people is wrong, regardless of the circumstance.

I think that war is wrong, and that militaries are wrong, but are necessary if you need to defend from attackers. If everyone had the peace and love mindset we would not need militaries, but that’s not how it is.

This is a tricky one for me, as although I can understand why people would be against them, I also love violence and people who act in violent manners and also, my father was in Vietnam, so I was raised in a pro military household.

Maybe you should try posting more.

Sorry but what?

Do you read what you post at times?

I also love violence and people who act in violent manners

Seriously?!

First of all, happy 20,000th post. Also, I can’t believe I said that, what I meant to say was I also love violence and people who act in violent manners on TV and in film, although you have to admit that fighting can be fun.

Maybe you should try posting more.

And if your father had died in that pointless conflict? You do come out with a lot of crap that makes you sound like quite an objectionable dick in real life. You know, I don’t want mean and nasty, but when someone applauds violence and incest, it’s difficult not to shake your head in total disgust.

Nothing personal, I’d feel the same about anyone expressing such disgusting views of the world.

I am sorry, @meanmistermustard, but if someone posts objectionable opinions, I will object.

I made clear I was not objecting to the person but the opinions.

If ye cannae advise someone to stop being a dick, and to think through whether they’re being a dick, what can ye do?

I don’t dislike HMB, I’m just expressing the view that I doubt he and I could be friends in real life. I don’t think that is a dishonest opinion to voice.

There are a lot of problems with this post:

1. If your father died during World War II or Afganistan, what the hell would be the difference, if my father dies fighting for his country, than I support that, although I do understand why people would be against the idea of war.

2. I’m not here to stir up shit, but that 2nd sentence really felt like a fuck you and also, at least my username and photo don’t look and or sound pissed off and if you want to know how I am in real life, I am nice to everybody until you piss me off, just like any other person, not a dick at all.

3. Did you actually read what I said about incest and think about the topic for more than 3 seconds, there are some legitimate reasons why consensus adult incest isn’t bad.

Also, to answer why, meanmistermustard, I say why not.

Maybe you should try posting more.

Because violence is primal.

Which is why sports are popular, sports are violent yet still are watched, why do you watch sports if you object to violence? Real people get hurt and even killed playing them.

As a victim of paternal incest, I can say it has left me the fecked up individual I am. Were not the power often involved in incestuous relationships not involved, the medical evidence of the damage a small gene pool creates for any offspring makes it an objectionable opinion, in my opinion.

Even the Bible objects to incest.

Quite the contrary, I don’t watch sports and I don’t object to violence, although people don’t die from playing sports unless they’re playing improperly.

That’s sad to hear, although the truth is that there is a difference between father son rape (which is what I assume you’re saying) and consensual incest between 2 adults. Also, if you use protection and surrogacy/adoption, you avoid having to worry about deformed children. Also, the bible is a flawed piece of work that supports or condemns a lot of things that society would disagree upon today, such as it’s hatred towards gays or how about how it’s thou shall not kill motto is contradicted and also, as I’ve said in a previous post, if you are a hardcore Ned Flanders style Christian, than you believe that the Jews who suffered during the holocaust are rotting in hell, so just because the bible says it doesn’t mean we should follow it.

You can not read a thread (it is what I do with the listening) , or you can block individual users.

You could also self-analyze why this thread makes you so angry.

The whole idea is to have discussions of controversial topics contained as much as possible in one thread so that people can avoid it like the plague if they want to. I think it is much better this way, rather than having these topics splattered all over the forum. It would be harder to “avoid” the topics that way. I don’t want to have to wonder if any thread other than this one (or the I read the news today thread) is going to put these topics in my face at any random time.

So what do you guys think about people with a strong disdain for God and people who believe in him celebrating religious holidays? Personally, I don’t think somebody with hatred for God or religion should be allowed to celebrate religious holidays. If a person doesn’t believe in God , but is respectful about those who do, I don’t see a problem with it, but when people are hateful and disrespectful to those who are religious, I think it is hypocritical of them to take part in a religious holiday.
