Any chance we’d ever see this on CD? I almost forgot it existed until I was going through my wax collection earlier. It seems kind of odd that they won’t re-release the only official Beatles live album, even if the quality isn’t the greatest.

I would say the chances are between highly unlikely and zero. That’s not to say that I don’t think a Beatles Live set will appear, and maybe even on the back of this current Beatles Live project going on. I just think it is more likely that, instead of faking a single performance at a single venue, from three performances at that venue, they are more likely to do an “across the years” type thing when it does happen. The Beatles Live 1963-1966 or even (starting off with Some Other Guy and Kansas City at the Cavern and heading off toward Candlestick Park) maybe even a two-disc 1962-1966, including at least 2-3 complete sets. Hollywood Bowl, were it going to appear as a standalone though, would have appeared if it was going to.

My ideal, which we’ll never see, would be a five disc set giving 80 minutes to each year from 62 to 66, with a bonus disc of the whole of the rooftop performance.

Only if released as a bonus disc instead a large very expensive box. I dont see the point anyway, would rather have complete shows than some hybrid.

My cynicism towards Apple can see us getting some incredibly crappy and pointless hack job where performances are edited because John sings the wrong words or Paul hits the wrote note. Either that or a selection of tracks from different concerts between ’63 and ’66 lasting an hour. I would buy it but hate it.

Which is why I suggested it as I did, a disc for each year. You could have two good complete sets on each disc, with a half-dozen or so other interesting performances from that year. They’ll never do it, but if they did do a good 5 or 6 disc set, where they included full sets, I’d happily pay my money.

Maybe Apple will one day get their act together and start releasing box sets of outtakes for each album and also a conclusive overview of the live years. They do have a Cavern tape, unheard ’63 concerts and who knows what else, the sound quality wouldnt be the greatest at times but the historical worth would be priceless.

I thought that Live At The BBC was also an official live album even though the songs were recorded live in a studio and not at a concert. I would love it if Apple would release a Live at the Cavern Club album. I don’t care if many of the songs they performed at the Cavern are on the BBC album. I’m sure they sang with more raw energy at the Cavern.

Maybe I’m imagining this, but I seem to recall an extremely “cleaned up” early live version of “Roll Over Beethoven ” in that Living In The Material World documentary about George. Perhaps one day, technology will allow them to make some of those Hamburg/Cavern recordings presentable.

The later songs on Live At The BBC do feature double tracked vocals and overdubs plus A Hard Days Night has the solo edited it so it becomes a mixture. Its what the beatles did for the recordings.

We should have gotten a complete official BBC box with everything by now as well and where is the remaster?

The Star Club Germany, Cavern, and 1960 tracks in LitMW sounded better than ever before.

That version of Roll Over Beethoven came from the Live at the Star Club album.

I’ve got a bootleg that has all 3 full shows, unedited…I quite like them. They could easily put all 3 shows on a 2CD set and sell millions. But it won’t happen. The Beatles themselves fought tooth and nail against that vinyl release untl the didn’t care anymore in the late 70’s, but I can’t see them embracing it now.

Apple are working on a Live Project at the moment so hopefully something worthwhile will come out of that. When Apple set their minds to it they make a very good job if it, tho it is usually pricey. We’ll more than likely also get more crap memorabilia as well but thats par of the course. A limited edition official £56 Apple Peeler Cloth.

Isn’t the Beatles Live! Project (as it’s titled) going to be more of a documentary film of their live shows ’63-’66? That’s what seems to be implied from the website. Either way, I CANNOT wait for it!

I believe so but they might decide to release some tie-in cd/dvd alongside as both would generate large publicity and sales and get money from the fans.

Would love something like this, or even the original album.  It’s kind of sad that performers stop people buying albums that were on LP on a CD – it’s like a sad attempted revision of history – like trying to wipe it off the map.  Neil Young has done the same with “Time Fades Away” in spite of a monstrous online petition asking for it to be officially released on CD.

I may be wrong, but I think there is a Japanese pressing of this on CD.

There are tons of pressings of the album, all unofficial.

I’d like it on CD – even if only as a souvenir, no matter the ‘hack job’ they apparently did on it.

If they are going to release it please dont give us just the 30 minute LP only, the complete ’64 concert and one complete ’65 show would fit easily onto a single cd.  And for the collectors put out an expanded edition which has the other ’65 performance and whatever relevant footage exists. No edits, how it was originally done by the four onstage.

Just listening to this on my stereo. My word, this is Bass Heavy!

I normally play Beatles records with Bass-boost on, but seems to be built in here. Is that just the PC version I’m listening to, or are all extant versions the same?
