Paul and Linda McCartney assembled the master tapes for the Band On The Run album on 29 October 1973.
The album had been mixed over the previous four days. On this final day the final running order was assembled, and the tapes readied for mastering.
The final titles were also set during this session. ‘Mrs Vandebilt’ had previously been ‘Mrs Vanderbilt’, while ‘Ma Munia’ was retitled ‘Mamunia’. ‘Drink To Me’ became ‘Picasso’s Last Words (Drink To Me)’, and ‘1985’ was renamed ‘Nineteen Hundred And Eighty Five’.
The only change made after this date came from Capitol Records’ vice president of marketing Al Coury, who wanted to include the non-album single ‘Helen Wheels’. During a 3 November phone conversation with McCartney he stated his case, and during a follow-up call the next day McCartney agreed to add the song in North America.
