Rehearsal: Live And Let Die by Wings

Studio One, AIR Studios, London
Producer: George Martin
Engineer: Bill Price

Wings had a day of rehearsal on 18 October 1972, ahead of the first recording session for ‘Live And Let Die’.

The session took place at AIR Studios, which was co-run by George Martin. He had chosen the orchestral musicians who would join the band for the recording.

After the rehearsal, Paul and Linda McCartney dropped in to a Carly Simon session that was taking place in the building. At the time she was working on the song ‘Night Owl’ for her third album No Secrets, which contained the international hit ‘You’re So Vain’.

McCartney was welcomed in by Simon and her producer Richard Perry, and joined a backing vocals chorus line which also included Doris Troy and Bonnie Bramlett.

After the recording was complete, Paul played them ‘Live And Let Die’ on the studio piano, and invited them to the following day’s recording session.
