John Lennon and Yoko Ono moved into 215 Lovell Avenue in Mill Valley, California, on 28 June 1972.
They had been staying in Ojai since early June, and in the final week moved to the Miyako Hotel in San Francisco. Shortly afterwards they decided to rent a house instead.
215 Lovell Avenue belonged to the Davis family, who had mutual acquaintances with Lennon and Ono. The family was travelling to Mexico for a month, and let it be known that the house was available. They viewed the property on 23 June, and moved in on this day. They remained at the property until early August 1972.

A friend of mine lived in this house in the late 1990’s. He said Lennon had written some graf on the wall of the downstairs bathroom. It said “The Maya the merrier” or something like that. They had painted around it to preserve it. He showed it to me. The house itself is completely unique. Redwood inside and out. It glowed in the late afternoon. Huge windows looking out over the canyon.
A woman named Rosa owned it then. No idea who lives there now.
