Paul McCartney began four days of overdubs for the McCartney album at Morgan Studios in London on 17 February 1970.
‘Teddy Boy’ was the first song to receive additional recordings. McCartney double-tracked his lead and backing vocals, before adding three percussion parts: drums, clapping, and slapping his legs with his hands.
That evening McCartney watched a televised world heavyweight title boxing match between Joe Frazier and Jimmy Ellis, which took place the previous night at New York’s Madison Square Garden.
Following the 20-minute fight, which was shown on BBC One, McCartney switched over to ITV and watched a documentary on the Kreen-Akrore tribe in the Brazilian rainforest. The programme inspired him to write ‘Kreen-Akrore’, which was recorded the following day.
