John Lennon and Yoko Ono filmed Apotheosis on 28 October 1969.
The shoot took place at Lasham Airfield in Hampshire. At this stage the film had the working title Balloon.
Apotheosis depicted a 17-minute journey of a balloon as it rose into the clouds. Lennon and Ono appear at the beginning of the film dressed in black hooded cloaks. The film premiered at the Institute for Contemporary Arts in London on 10 November 1969.
