The Beatles’ only concert in Nice, France took place at 9pm at the Palais des Expositions, situated on the Esplanade Maréchal de Lattre de Tassigny.
The group had flown to Nice on the previous day. They spent two nights in the French city before leaving for Madrid in Spain on 1 July 1965.

Throughout their European Tour in June and July 1965 The Beatles’ live set consisted of 12 songs: ‘Twist And Shout’, ‘She’s A Woman’, ‘I’m A Loser’, ‘Can’t Buy Me Love’, ‘Baby’s In Black’, ‘I Wanna Be Your Man’, ‘A Hard Day’s Night’, ‘Everybody’s Trying To Be My Baby’, ‘Rock And Roll Music’, ‘I Feel Fine’, ‘Ticket To Ride’ and ‘Long Tall Sally’.
After the concert the group went to the La Fiesta nightclub, where they enjoyed racing each other and members of the touring party on the club’s go-kart track.

I was there with a girl named Chantal who lived in Nice. I was in the US Navy , home ported in Ville Franche. It was a great concert and I will never forget the girl that I was with.

J’accompagnais alors un ensemble vocal, les Domino’s qui passait en première partie, en “vedette américaine” comme on disait alors, avec le groupe de rock dans lequel je jouait, les Profanes.
Dans les années 60 il y avait un groupe de rock dans chaque pâté de maison à Nice.
Trois accords, et hop, du rock.
Après ça a progressé.
J’avais même loué une Strat et un ampli Fender chez madame Gatti pour les connaisseur.
Cela se faisait alors, une première partie composé de plusieurs artistes, les organisateurs n’avaient alors pas compris que les Beatles se suffisaient à eux même.
La sono était nulle de chez nulle (il a fallu changer de micro en pleine représentation), l’acoustique, n’en parlons pas (le Palais des Expo !), le public hystérique n’a pas du entendre grand chose.
Nous non plus d’ailleurs pendant notre tour de champ.
A l’époque, pas de retour de scène. Y compris pour EUX.
Sauf que j’ai bien tout entendu parce que je me trouvais au pied de la scène, pendant tout LEUR passage, en avant des barrières de protection.
Nous avions la “loge” (en fait des cloison séparaient les “loges” sous les arcades du Palais.
Cloison mal jointes, donc nous avons passé l’avant concert à LES regarder.
Un souvenir inoubliable, surtout l’année de mon deuxième Baccalauréat.
Le 2°,parce qu’à l’époque, il y en avait 2 de Bacs, un en Première, complet, et le “deuxième Bac” comme on disait, après la Terminale
