‘Don’t Know A Thing About Love’ is the second song on Ringo Starr’s tenth solo album, 1992’s Time Takes Time.
It was co-written by LA-based songwriter Richard Feldman, and Stan Lynch, the drummer of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers. Also in Petty’s band was Benmont Tench, who played keyboards on the recording.
In 1992 Lynch’s time with the Heartbreakers was drawing to a close. After initially refusing to perform at a benefit show at West Hollywood’s The Viper Room, Petty threatened to replace him with Starr. Two years later he parted company with the band.
‘Don’t Know A Thing About Love’ was a b-side of Starr’s ‘Don’t Go Where The Road Don’t Go’ single. It was released only in Germany on 21 September 1992.
