A few years back on the forum, I wrote about visiting my sister, and more specifically the day we spent at the house of her elderly next-door neighbours Charlie and (super-Beatlefan) Debbie….
Well, now that I’m temporarily living with Vonsister, her neighbours are my neighbours. And when recently I happened to be on the front porch scanning for nearby Wi-Fi networks, I was amused to notice one with the identifying name “beatles” – pretty obvious whose network that is.

It was some time ago when I was with my mum at a restaurant in Australia explaining every Beatles album from the first to the last (because she wanted to learn more). After I was done, Day Tripper suddenly played and it was like something in my brain just clicked. That’s quite coincidental haha.

Saw the new Indiana Jones movie at the theater today.
*Magical Mystery Tour plays in the movie*
My first thought: Hey, cool. A Beatles song.
My second thought: That must have been expensive.

I was reading about this just days ago; $1 million is apparently what the Indy producers paid, or four times what it cost to place “Tomorrow Never Knows ” in a Season 5 episode of “Mad Men” a decade ago. It was explained to me that usage of a song in film is generally much more expensive than for television, on the reasoning that the movies are eventually broadcast on TV as well, whereas a TV episode will almost never show up on a cinema screen.
Me, I find it hard to reconcile the fact that *The Beatles* exist in Indiana Jones’ universe. (I realize Spielberg didn’t direct this last one, but I’ve read his confession that he wasn’t much of a pop music listener as a teen, being already fully-obsessed with his filmmaking, and so he didn’t become a Beatle fan until being blown away by the White Album while into his twenties. And it’s maybe notable that Spielberg’s first credit on a film he didn’t direct (Executive Producer only) was Beatles-themed: 1978’s comedy classic “I Wanna Hold Your Hand”

It was a very pleasing surprise to hear ‘MMT’ in the ‘Indiana’ film, tho I thought it would have been cool to hear another track from the album later to give the impression of listening to the album. Obviously money would have been a major factor. I stayed thru about 47 years of credits just to see the bit where the publishing credits came up. I love hearing Beatles songs in films and on TV, like ‘Komm, gib mir deine Hand’ appearing unexpectedly in some film I cannot remember the title off – some German war themed movie with Scarlett Johansson.
The good thing with ‘MMT’ appeared is that whenever ‘Dial Of Destiny’ appears on TV I can watch until that point, maybe until after the Glasgow scenes pass, and then turn it off as my word the film is so boring. I love the first three films, the fourth slowly forgets it’s an Indiana Jones movie as it goes on (let’s ignore the fridge thing) but has some very enjoyable moments. Today I was just bored, trying to find some reason to remain interested.

@meanmistermustard The film starring Scarlett Johansson is called ‘Jojo Rabbit’.
That’s it. A weird film which got weirder as the film went on. Still. Beatles!!
I wonder if I would go and see a film just for a Beatles song being in it. Not one with covers, like ‘Yesterday ‘, the proper Beatles version.

I saw Debbie herself leaving her house yesterday, wearing (naturally) a Beatles t-shirt. (very basic, just white logo on black fabric.)

We just hang up those on the wall next to our dinner table. Constant Beatles moment
Got them from the German Beatles Museum in the city of Halle (Saale). They ordered them for me from the printer exclusively because they don’t get produced anymore. I love them!
@meanmistermustard hearing MTT in Indy V really was special! I was hoping for a fab song in the movie since Indy IV is set in 57 and starts with Elvis‘ Hound dog and Indy V is set in 69.
@Rube Jo Jo Rabbit is an amazing movie!

The portraits are fantastic. Very envious.
Tonight been flicking thru the music channels and have heard ‘End Of The Line’, ‘Give Peace A Chance ‘ (which was weirdly edited to pop off a good chuck of the coda), ‘Nobody Told Me’ and ‘No More Lonely Nights’.
With the Beatles promos out there to buy I find it odd their music is almost never heard on the music channels. You then have the live material which you’d think could be shown, even if thru thru some legal loophole or other. I did see ‘Taxman ‘ a few months ago. One video in who knows how long.

Coming down to the dinner table is even better now that those pictures greet me down there! Really a game changer 🙂
Parnets got them for me as a gift for the new house btw. They drove to the Beatles museum for me to pick them up!

I stood in a Costa doorway for about 30 seconds trying to work out what the very faint music was that was playing thru a really rubbish speaker, folk must have thought I had forgotten how to exit a building. Finally the bridge(?) of ‘Things We Said Today ‘ broke out, everything became clear and I went on my way. Happy times.
