Paul McCartney live: Zócalo de la Ciudad de México, Mexico City, Mexico

Sir Paul McCartney’s third and final Mexican concert in his On The Run tour was a free event at the Zócalo de la Ciudad de México, Mexico City.

Ahead of the show the city authorities announced that 80,000 people would be admitted inside the Zócalo, while seven giant screens were erected on nearby streets to allow an estimated 150,000 more to watch.

The Zócalo is the main plaza in the historic center of Mexico City. Its formal name is Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square), and has been a gathering place for Mexicans since Aztec times.

McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar) and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).
