Paul McCartney live: Zócalo de la Ciudad de México, Mexico City

Paul McCartney performed at the Zócalo de la Ciudad de México in Mexico City, Mexico, on 10 May 2012.

It was the 32nd show of the On The Run Tour, which lasted for 37 dates between July 2011 and November 2012, and the last of three Mexican shows.

This was a free event. The Zócalo is the main plaza in the historic center of Mexico City. Its formal name is Plaza de la Constitución (Constitution Square), and has been a gathering place for Mexicans since Aztec times.

Ahead of the show the city authorities announced that 80,000 people would be admitted inside the Zócalo, while seven giant screens were erected on nearby streets to allow an estimated 150,000 more to watch.

McCartney’s band was Paul ‘Wix’ Wickens (vocals, keyboards, guitar, percussion, harmonica), Brian Ray (vocals, guitar, bass), Rusty Anderson (vocals, guitar), and Abe Laboriel Jr (vocals, drums).
