Three days after his Scottish properties were raided by the police, on 22 September 1972 Paul McCartney was charged with possessing and cultivating cannabis plants.
Eight police officers had raided High Park Farm and Low Ranachan, and discovered a total of five cannabis plants.
On this day McCartney was charged on two counts of possession and one of cultivating cannabis. A not guilty plea was submitted in absentia to all three charges, and a trial was set for 8 March 1973.
