Wings continued work on ‘Hi, Hi, Hi’ on 19 September 1972.
They had recorded 24 takes the previous day, with the last of those being temporarily selected as the best. However, at the beginning of this day’s work Paul McCartney chose instead to work on take 17.
He overdubbed a piano part, followed by two of lead vocals, but yet again the results were deemed unsatisfactory, and a rethink was required.
During a 12-hour session that started at 1.15pm and finished the following morning, Wings recorded 22 more takes, numbered 27-48. However, none were considered good enough at the end of the session, and yet another remake was started the following day.
