The Beatles won an Academy Award for the Let It Be film on 15 April 1971.
They won the Oscar for the Best Original Song Score. The other nominated films in the category were The Baby Maker, A Boy Named Charlie Brown, Darling Lili, and Scrooge.
None of The Beatles were in attendance, so the award was accepted on their behalf by Quincy Jones. The ceremony took place at the Dorothy Chandler Pavilion at the Los Angeles Music Center.
