Travel: John Lennon – Athens to Bombay

John Lennon and Yoko Ono flew from Athens, Greece, to Bombay, India, on 18 November 1969.

They took an evening flight to Santacruz Airport, arriving at 3.15am the following morning. They stayed in India until 24 November, staying at the Taj Mahal Palace and Towers Hotel.

The primary purpose of their trip was to visit 80-year-old Maria Vonsteberg, known as The Wisdom. Lennon and Ono borrowed a car from the hotel and went with their local guide to see Vonsteberg, although the meeting was not productive.

And then we went to India and did rice. We slipped up into the mountains to see some miracle worker who didn’t do any miracles and came back while we were there.
