John Lennon and Yoko Ono leave hospital in Scotland

John Lennon and Yoko Ono, and Ono’s daughter Kyoko were discharged from Golspie’s Lawson Memorial Hospital on 6 July 1969.

They had been there since their involvement in a car accident on 1 July. Lennon was given 17 facial stitches, Ono 14 in her forehead, and Kyoko four.

Julian Lennon was treated for shock but was otherwise unhurt. He was taken to stay with Lennon’s Aunt Mater in Durness, around 50 miles away, before his mother Cynthia took him back to London the following day.

They boarded a helicopter containing Apple executive Peter Brown, and were taken to Dalcross Airport near Inverness. From there they were taken by private jet to Gatwick Airport, and were picked up by their chauffeur Les Anthony and taken to Sunny Heights, their temporary home in Weybridge.
