Travel: John Lennon – Ottawa to Toronto

John Lennon and Yoko Ono travelled from Ottowa to Toronto on 4 June 1969.

They took the overnight train from Ottowa, which departed at around 11.30pm the night before, and arrived at Toronto’s Union Station at around 6.30am. They were then driven to the Windsor Arms Hotel in Bloor-Bay.

After resting for much of the day, in the afternoon Lennon and Ono briefly visited Niagara Falls. They left Toronto the following day.

We went by train from Quebec to Toronto (where we stayed overnight and did more press) and then by car to Niagara Falls, where we stayed no longer than five minutes owing to the steadily growing murmur behind us. A crowd was building up and it would be death on the foaming rocks below if the mob surged forward. Such disappointment I had rarely known. Niagara Falls, after all these years of legend, and we were on our way home after five minutes! Was this a record? I am sure it was. Everything was a record in those times all those years ago.
