A 50 foot painting of John Lennon was in Central Park today. I wonder where it will be next. https://www.dnainfo.com/new-yo…..e-day-only

I inked this in art club yesterday!

There’s colour now, but anywho, this was my first time actually using ink from a bottle to outline one of my drawings. No idea if I’m gonna do the rest of the band or not.

The Gamma Delta Chapter of the Sigma Chi fraternity made this “You may say I’m a dreamer” display for the Oklahoma State University homecoming Walkaround (Go Pokes!). Lennon’s glasses were reflective. I was in Stillwater Friday. If I had known about the display, I would have taken the time to go see it. Sorry I missed it. I contacted someone from the fraternity, and they sent me the picture and gave me permission to put the picture on the forum.

I have a great old book (’70s?) called The Illustrated Beatles. I hadn’t seen this thread before. I’ll see if I can crank up my scanner and throw a few in for your perusal. Now to dig through my dusty tomes and find it!

There are many public sculptures, paintings, carvings, paintings throughout the world devoted to the Beatles. Perhaps we can create a  thread to this topic. (Not including works of art for sale)P1100040.jpgImage Enlarger

@Ahhh Girl Great picture of Sir George Martin with “John”! (Yes, I just came back from Havana – the Lennon glasses can come off and have often been stolen. Now a woman stands off to the side and stands guard over the glasses!)

Love the Beatles Bible trick.

I thought it was James Hetfield of Metallica.

And the reason the statue sucks is because Metallica hasn’t released a good album since Metallica.

@Evangeline and @Pablo Ramon, Ohhh Boy enjoyed that little conversation about the statue looking more like Barry Gibb. He is a huge Bee Gee’s fan. Thanks. An apple for both of you. apple01apple01

Thank you for posting the pic, @Ron Nasty. I imagine you would like your apple in a spiked cider form.

‘Abbey Road’ Sculpture Installed On Siberian University Campus

From the article.

A new sculpture reproducing the famous staged street crossing depicted on the Beatles’ Abbey Road album cover has been installed on the campus of the Tomsk State University (TSU) in Russia’s Siberia.

The sculpture by local artist Anton Gnedykh was unveiled on June 20 to mark the launch of the university’s application season, TSU said on its website.

In the sculpture, the four members of the British group — John Lennon , Paul McCartney , George Harrison , and Ringo Starr — appear to be heading to the university’s main building.

Great recruiting tool.

The school’s story about the sculpture. It’s in English.

A group of plexiglass sculptures depicting members of The Beatles, who appear to be heading to TSU’s main building, appeared in the University Grove on the first day of receiving documents. Its creator is a Tomsk sculptor, Anton Gnedikh.

The figures are lifesize, each weighing about 50 kg. John Lennon , Paul McCartney , George Harrison , and Ringo Starr are as they looked on the famous cover of the album “Abbey Road ” and headed directly to the main entrance of TSU, as if they want to submit documents for admission.

The sculptures will be in the University Grove over the summer. The composition has not been exhibited anywhere before.

So…maybe this sculpture will travel.

Oh, my. What they have done to George.

Celebrated wood sculptor to carve out The Beatles this summer

Will anyone be in Liverpool on any Sunday(s) next month?

An award-winning wood sculptor will turn tree trunks into life-size statues of The Beatles on Liverpool’s waterfront this summer.

Waterloo-born Simon O’Rourke will head to the city’s Pier Head Village to take on the ambitious task of creating the four legendary band members.

The ‘Fab Four’ will be carved out over four Sundays by Simon, who has been internationally celebrated for previous works including ‘Angels’ and the ‘Dark Knight’.

Paul McCartney will be the first of the musicians to be created in wood at midday on 6 August, followed by George Harrison on 13 August, Ringo Starr on 27 August and John Lennon on 28 August.

Each sculpture is expected to take six to seven hours and, once completed, they will be auctioned off at the British Music Experience in September.

More to the story at the link.

Drew this quick pencil drawing of George last night. I don’t think it turned out entirely horrible, as I haven’t drawn anything Beatles related in a long time
