Bristol’s Tobacco Factory mural of John Lennon is being mistaken for Harry Potter

Bristol.JPGImage Enlarger

The article says that it is mostly young people who are seeing Potter. I feel like we need to do more education to reach these poor souls.

I think that’s okay. John should be honored to be mistaken for Harry Potter. The Harry Potter books and movies are masterpieces.

John Lennon was 30 when that photo was taken, Harry Potter is a teenage witch. Surely kids can tell the difference between the two even if it is someone recreation of it.

Now that i think of it, i bet if they showed the entire body no one would confuse John Lennon with Harry Potter.

If you're reading this, you are looking for something to do.

Dark Overlord is right in that if they showed John’s whole face people wouldn’t mistake it for Harry Potter. The focus of that painting is the glasses, which are the same shape that Harry Potter is so well-known for.

Wizard/witch. In a world of sexual equality what does it matter?

Here is the greatest teenage witch.

Because wizards and witches are two different types of magic-makers. They’re not male and female versions of the same thing — that’d be witch and warlock. Wizards can be male or female.

Wizards, witches, warlocks. They’ll do the same thing just with different hats on.

I always just thought witches and warlocks had more negative connotations, as in they deal in black magic. A witch tends to be female and a warlock male.

Wizards, mages and sorcerers tend to be the good guys, although I believe they are sometimes regarded as bad.

Is a Mage a Magi? Or is a Magi an astronomer? Was it the Magi who followed the Star to Bethlehem? Anyone know their bible history? I know three Wise Men did but so did someone else.

A witch is female to a warlock.

The Shepard followed the star.

Magi is one way to make mage plural.

sorcerers and their female counterpart are more mixed.

A mage and wizard are fairly interchangeable.

A mage is typically elemental, meaning they specialize with a certain element like fire or water. A wizard is more of an ordinary spellcaster who knows spells and how to cast them, regardless of element. However different rules exist in different fantasy worlds as to what each one can do.

John Lennon is getting a US stamp in 2018. https://www.local10.com/lifest…..s-for-2018

Hopefully by the end of April so RN can get a birthday card with one of the stamps on it.

They will be forever stamps so I am going to buy a slew of them to use for years to come.

It’s not bad, @Ahhh Girl. Not the best Lennon statue in Liverpool (probably the Pier Head Beatles) but not the worst (was hugely disappointed by the Cavern Walks Beatles:

Cavern-Walks.jpgImage Enlarger

).

Liverpool is a fascinating city for statues though. As AG can confirm, there are very naturalistic statues of Liverpool’s famous sons and daughters strolling the streets in the city centre, and you can find statues of many connected with the Beatles story that are easily missed, like this statue of Sir John Moores and his brother Cecil:

John-and-Cecil-Moores-1.jpgImage Enlarger

Sir John was the man who bought the Stuart Sutcliffe painting that bought Stu a bass guitar so he could join John’s band.

It does strike me that I don’t think there’s a statue of Brian in Liverpool. I’m sure AG and I would have been off to see had there been.

Strange that the man who did so much to create Liverpool’s reputation as a centre as musical Revolution is so far missing a public memorial.

Something interesting I noticed is that the John statue on Mathew Street has had his head changed. It seems this is the statue as it was originally:

John-Mathew-Street-Statue-1.JPG

While now, after a slight move, he looks like this:

John-Mathew-Street-Statue-2.jpgImage Enlarger

Obviously the same body, but his head has changed from the rocker to the moptop.
