Now I have material for a new Mithveaen's Christmas Eve's Dinner soundtrack. We have a large Christmas Eve dinner and my Dad always hijacks the stereo and plays his old Musica Navideña and I hate it . So I always prepare a special CD just in case someone says “Again that Ottmar Liebert album??”
That video of the Organ King is awesome. I remember a friend who took her niece to watch the Nutcracker Ballet, the girl said “Look! They're using Home Alone soundtrack!!” That girl got a Tchaikovsky CD under her tree

Wow!! That was AWESOME!! I had heard this song before with Mariah Carey and U2, but no, this can't compare. It's awesome thanks for sharing Joe!
BTW Darlene Love is being inducted in the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame in 2011. I like her a lot in one of my favorite movies is Lethal Weapon, now I'm going to check her albums!!
Ok to be back in topic, do you recommend that A Christmas gift for you from Philies record? It's considered one of the best ever.

I was just listening to that record now, it's a classic. The failure of the CD to chart in the US reportedly drove Phil Spector to a breakdown.
You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us. But Mickey and Titch and I would like to carry on the good work that's always gone down in number two.
I like bits of it, but the Darlene Love song is a clear highlight. It’s quite cheesy and kitsch, but then that’s Christmas all over, isn’t it?
Not sure if anyone’s mentioned this, but the album was reissued by Apple Records in 1972 as Phil Spector’s Christmas Album.
It was originally released on the day JFK died, and didn’t do all that well.

It was, yes. Though in the UK I doubt it affected sales too much – they were already huge by then.

It would have also been released hours before JFK was killed. Off topic, but I always found the theory that the Beatles did so well in America was because America needed something to feel happy again after JFK's death (and the Beatles were there at the right time) an interesting one.

Boy people liked releasing things on the day JFK died. Wasn't WTB also released that day?
When I read this I was like “I remember something that was also released on that day” and then I remembered! It's not a release but Kubrick's Dr. Strangelove first screening was scheduled on Nov 22nd 1963. Because of this, the premiere was rescheduled to January 1964 and some changes were done to the movie.

My favourite is my Christmas Parody, sung to In My Life
As if it matters how a man falls down.'
'When the fall's all that's left, it matters a great deal.
