Yay! Christmas thread! 🙂
Christmas time is probably the best time of the year for me 🙂
I love being around my family and friends and having that big party at my house on Christmas Eve, the warmth of the fire, the decorations around the house, the food, everything
But one thing I look forward to in wintertime, is SNOW!
Being from the Lone Star State, we barely ever get snow (although it's starting to change around here, February 2010, we got a foot and a quarter of snow, the most we ever got in a single winter. And this year, we had a freeze-out and snow. The ice was on the ground for a week. And we were expected to only be out for one day of school, turns out, we got SIX days off of school! And that meant time off from final exams 😀 ) it just makes me happy to see a whole bunch of fluffy white stuff on the ground
Anyway, what did you put on your Christmas list this year? Mine included vinyl records, Stevie Riks DVD's and an Android tablet 🙂
Good Dog Nigel. Arf, Arf, he goes, a merry sight. Our little hairy friend. Arf, Arf, upon the lampost bright, arfing around the bend. Nice dog! Goo boy, waggie tail and beg. Clever Nigel, jump for joy
Because we're putting you to sleep at three of the clock, Nigel.

on my Christmas list so far:
Concert for Bangladesh movie
Plastic Ono Band CD
Adele's 21 CD
the Sims 3 Pets. Sadly, I am a Sims addict.
a leather jacket, as “rock n' roll” as possible.
Two days after Christmas I'm going out west to see one of my best friends, who moved to Portland this summer. That's what I'm looking forward to most.
Ali, I love “fluffy white stuff” too. Last winter, we got a ton of it and a week and a half off of school.
We have a white ceramic nativity scene that we put out and we get a tree about a week before and decorate it with a bunch of creepy needlepoint Santas my great-grandma made, among other ornaments.
I shall be watching Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer and Charlie Brown Christmas at some point, as I do every year.

"What happens to them?" insisted Milo.
"Oddly enough, they often grow ten times the size of everyone else," said Alec thoughtfully, "and I’ve heard that they walk among the stars."

Damn, thought this thread would be about the song! (Or those wonderful Beatles Christmas records.) Me, I'm too old to be anything but annoyed and stressed out by the Xmas season…except for the fact that this year I've got a precious 2 1/2 year old neice who's just getting into the whole Xmas thing (loves to open gifts!), so I can at least look forward to some excitement by proxy.
Paul: Yeah well… first of all, we’re bringing out a ‘Stamp Out Detroit’ campaign.

Christmas Time (Is Here Again) is such a daft song with one of the greatest lines of any song ever – “O U T spells out”. Its also great that there is the full version out there, which goes really off the wall towards the end, and the '95 edit which works better for playing along with other festive songs.
I love the snow as i live in the middle of nowhere so when it does and everything is white and crisp and clean and its beautiful. Makes me really happy and its great to walk in. Trouble is when you go into the cities everyone looks miserable. Smile its snowing!!!!!
So does everyone eat turkey (the standard food for a christmas in the UK) or is that only for Thanksgiving in the US? The thing with christmas is that you eat so much you nearly explode.

I suppose I’m somewhat of a Christmas spoiler…”no presents, no cards, no tree, NO turkey, NO ham”*sigh*sorry. I did decorate a christmas tree, though, but it wasn’t mine. And seaglass, your wishlist looks pretty much how mine would if I would make one. It’s kind of scary.
I like Lennon’s song though…”and so this is Christmas, and what have you done”, makes me feel guilty

I didn't know you guys ate turkey in the UK! I thought goose was the fowl of choice…anyways, I believe that in the USA, turkey and ham are equally popular – presumably, a lot of Americans don't want another big turkey meal a mere month after Thanksgiving.
(Turkey still the #1 choice for both holidays here in Canada – our Thanksgiving precedes the Americans' by a month.)

Quoted my own post by mistake can't seem to edit it out. On Thanksgiving and Christmas we eat until we can’t get up. Lots of Turkey, Pumpkin Pie and other goodies. May I ask are there any special traditions in regards to how Christmas Eve or Day is celebrated in the UK?
As for the song “Christmas Time Is Here Again “, That’s a fan club exclusive I wish the Beatles released officially as a Yuletide single. Ringo recorded an enjoyable version for his “I wanna be Santa Claus” CD

including the leather jacket and the Sims game??? Wow. That is kind of scary.
The Hard Day's Night photo strip with Santa hats at the top of the webpage made me explode laughing in the middle of a library. Merry Christmas to you too, Joe!
We usually have pork roast for Christmas dinner. One year my mom made some duck dish with a fruity sauce, but it was straight-up foul so she never did THAT again.

Ah, yes Christmas, on Wednesday I planned that if I listened to the Beatles Christmas’ records chronologically on TheOneBeatleManiac’s YouTube channel, (yes, I am that grateful) would not fill it, so on Christmas eve I would listen to BEATLES CHRISTMAS SUPERMASH, my holidays would be complete.
I wish something Beatles-ish, of course. Some bootlegs (of course), and the complete Mono recordings (hard to find)
My list of favorite Christmas songs are:
- Everywhere it's Christmas, at the end of every yeaaaaar. – The Beatles
- Christmas Time Is Here Again
- Little Saint Nick – The Beach Boys
- Wonderful Christmas Time – Wings
- Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow! Let It Snow!
- Jingle Bell Rock – Bobby Helms
- Merry Christmas (I don't wanna Fight) – The Copy Cats also known as The Ramones
- The Man With All The Toys
- Happy Xmas (War Is Over (If You Want It)) – Johnny and the Moondogs feat. Yoko
- Trolol Xmas – Unknown YouTuber
The Beach Boys '’SMiLE boxset too would be enough.
Also, just found out ELO realesed all their studio albums remastered (not the live album, sadly (no surpsrise, Pink Floyd this year too)).

My fave Christmas song is McCartney's Wonderful Christmastime . People say it's corny, but I love it!
Merry Xmas Biblers! Will Sun King be doing another end of year awards?
You all will have read that Dave Dee is no longer with us. But Mickey and Titch and I would like to carry on the good work that's always gone down in number two.

Why yes I will! Final details to come soon – going to get some new category ideas before the final post.
Edit: Ideas are to be sent to me via PM.

I like Holy Night and Jingle Bells haha I don't wish for anything special this year (anything Beatles-ish and loads of chocolate, I'm a terrible chocolate-addict). and I can't wait to spend Christmas at my grandma's.

I like that one song from Charlie Brown, the piano one. I like most songs, the melodies at least, I got a cd a few years ago called the Christmas Piano and it is a very pleasant listen, Canon in D, Auld Lang Syne, etc. Very nice songs.
But we just started the Christmas music at work at its getting bad…if I have to hear that Nsync song one more time! It's so catchy though, I can never get it out of my head even when I leave.
All I really want this year is a classical nylon stringed guitar, it doesn't even have to be a nice one. It's basically just a giant ukulele except not in the ridiculous tuning of a ukulele.
I like Christmas, mostly for the cookies.
I sat on a rug, biding my time, drinking her wine

One UK tradition is the Queens speech. Its traditional for it to be on at 3pm every Christmas Day (ie 25th December and not Eve, Day and Boxing Day) and traditional for many people to avoid watching it, one being me. Cant think of many more boring things than watching that.
Im not sure why turkey is the foul of the nation when many people dont like it, suppose its like Brussel sprouts, its just what you eat at Christmas (tho i like Sprouts, not fond of turkey tho).
For someone who wasnt here for last years awards what are they?

Looks like fun Mr Sun, but my memory sucks on these type of things so a few topic votes may have to be bypassed – or names randomly plucked from the worlds biggest baby beatle bible names book.
