Paul McCartney compiled a running order for his proposed Cold Cuts album on 24 October 1979.
Cold Cuts was intended to be a collection of outtakes dating back to 1970. McCartney revisited the project, which was also known as Hot Hitz/Kold Kutz, several times during the 1970s and 80s.
On 18 October he had overseen stereo mixes of a number of recordings. Some were solo recordings, others were with Wings, Linda McCartney, or Paul’s brother Mike McGear, or titles earmarked for a Rupert the Bear animation. McCartney and engineer Eddie Klein then assembled three reels of master mixes, and Paul took away cassette copies of each.
The songs mixed were: ‘Cage’, ‘He Didn’t Mean It’, ‘Waterspout’, ‘Lunch Box/Odd Sox’, ‘Rock And Roll Rodeo’, ‘Jazz Street’, ‘Hey Diddle’, ‘Oriental Nightfish’, ‘Same Time Next Year’, ‘Did We Meet Somewhere Before’, ‘My Carnival’, ‘Suicide’, ‘Wide Prairie’, ‘Twelve Of The Clock’, ‘Best Friend’, ‘Mama’s Little Girl’, ‘I Would Only Smile’, ‘Tragedy’, ‘Night Out’, ‘When The Wind Is Blowing’, ‘Sunshine Sometime’, ‘Great Cock And Seagull Race’, ‘A Love For You’, and ‘So Glad To See You Here’.
During this session they assembled Cold Cuts Sampler 1, an iteration of the project McCartney hoped to interest his record labels in releasing. The precise running order of the album, however, is not known.
