Wings’ finished recording ‘Love Awake’ for their seventh studio album, Back To The Egg, on 19 March 1979.
This was the final recording session for the album. Paul McCartney oversaw a brass overdub by the Black Dyke Mills Band, who had recorded his composition ‘Thingumybob’ in June 1968.
We screwed it into the ground, and it just got worse. The more we did to it, the worse it got and it just got overblown. Once there was an amazing song on there, which we messed up with the Black Dyke Mills Band – I mean, an amazing, beautiful song. It could have been much more simple. I just found it very frustrating.
