Wings began recording the Wings At The Speed Of Sound songs ‘Warm And Beautiful’ and ‘San Ferry Anne’ on 2 February 1976.
‘Warm And Beautiful’ was initially a solo Paul McCartney recording, featuring just piano and vocals. The basic track was recorded within 30 minutes at the beginning of the session.
Upon their arrival at the studio, Jimmy McCulloch and Denny Laine added slide guitar parts during the instrumental section. The song was given orchestration on 13 February.
‘San Ferry Anne’ featured McCartney and Laine on acoustic guitars, McCulloch on bass guitar, and Joe English on drums. The overdubs included more bass drum and cymbals by English, lead guitar by McCulloch, lead vocals by McCartney, and harmonies by him and Linda McCartney.
