Wings recorded the backing track of the Venus And Mars track ‘Treat Her Gently – Lonely Old People’ on 25 January 1975.
It featured Paul McCartney on vocals and piano, and Joe English on drums. Jimmy McCulloch, Denny Laine, and Linda McCartney did not take part in the recording.
Towards the end of the session, Paul overdubbed a bass guitar part, which was taped by direct injection: plugging the instrument straight into the recording console rather than an amplifier. He then consulted with arranger Tony Dorsey about a potential orchestral overdub.
